Food culture week!

8 Sep
Since it’s the school holidays
and we don’t close we held a holiday program week!
and it was titled Food Culture Week
So every day we eat something from a different culture
It was a really enjoyable week
All play no study haha. (:
Just one week! So alot of photos were snapped!

Tuesday : Philippines

Pastillas (Milk Candy)

it was really interesting! ( :
though it’s like SWEEET. haha but yes.
it was good!
and the children really enjoyed making it!

The demonstrators : Ms Lorraine and Mr. Ramon
Both from the Philippines!

The participants : Expressive class students

First step : Sieve the milk powder!

Second step :
Mix with condense milk, making it into a paste

Third step : Roll it into a ball and coat it with sugar
(I told you it’s SWEET haha)

And all the children had a try!

the new twins coming in officially in October!

Rolling rolling rolling.

then giving it a try! ( :
YUMMERS!

Wednesday : India

Puttu Mayam

My favourite when I was young! ( :

The demonstrator :
Ms Patsy!

First Step : Adding water to the rice flour and mixing it into a dough

Second Step : Put it into a presser

Third Step :
Squeeze it out in a circular motion and repeat it to desired thickness
(We didn’t do it in the circular motion though haha)

Tadah! Put it in the steamer for 5 mins and you can eat it!
Awesome right? hehe

Curious about how the dough can turn out to become thin noodle-like pieces.

Enjoying the taste! ( :

Thursday : Astonia

We were lucky to have a parent volunteer who demonstrated how to make Astonian apple pie!

Step One : Roll out the dough

Step Two : Add the apples that has been cooked with a little bit of sugar
and add a bit of sugar on top

Step Three : Add cinnamon powder (not too much!)

Step Four : Do some patterns with the extra dough
To decorate the pie

Giving an extra hand

Step Five : Bake it and you get… A pig-looking apple pie!
so cute aye? hehe

What an eventful week!
Though it’s a pity I wasn’t around on Friday for jap
But i’m sure they had alot of fun too!

Coming up : Kelong trip!
