With Japanese and Chinese food and Great Company ♥

15 Aug

it’s Friday and TGIF indeed (:
but this particular Friday is different.
Baby and I didn’t cook anything.
not even dessert!
Cheok and Jacky took over the cooking and let me just say.
it was an awesome night with super yummy food!
so compliments to the Chefs of the night!
was super awesome la. hehe

Menu for the night :

Garlic and chicken fried rice
Tuna tataki
Cabbage and meat rolls

SO MUCH FOOD. haha
we were ALL bloated by the end of the night.

so the day started with buying the tuna from the market.
I followed Cheok to the market cause he wasn’t sure how to choose the tuna
so after getting back from uni I accompanied him to the market to help him out!
and it was the best piece of tuna we’ve had in the longest time!
especially since the tuna we normally have is from a tin. haha
but yes. this was awesome! (:
Sashimi grade aye. haha

the tuna cutlets being coated with cracked pepper
and all ready for the super hot pan to seal it off! (:

but before sealing it off.
Cheok had to fry the garlic (HEAPS OF IT) and chicken and the rice! (:
my dearest brother called to see how he was doing. haha.
so funny. ALL THE LOVE in the house! hehe

read between the bottles! (: haha
he needed erm. encouragement while he was cooking!

can u see the white stuff in the pan?
that’s how much garlic we had! haha
and in goes the chicken!

the cabbage chicken rolls ready to go into the oven – made by Chef Jacky (:

now time to seal the tuna cutlets

all done and ready to be sliced!
i got so excited when he was about to slice it up.
cos tataki (beef or fish) is like one of my favourite dishes ever!
and how good does this look!?

haha the two chefs! (:
one getting pointers from the other. hehe.

as Cheok slices the tuna and plates them!

Beautiful Chaos (:
that’s the name of his dish! haha

it was a huge plate of tataki. haha
can u imagine how happy i was? SUPER!

deserves another shot! (:

the dipping sauce for the tuna tataki.
SUPER SHIOK! haha.
definitely a crowd pleaser.
by crowd. i mean all 4 of us. hehe

and that’s how you eat it! (:

the cabbage rolls out of the steamer (:

a close up! (:

and that’s how it looks on the inside!

woohoo the garlic fried rice!
super duper yummy! (:

If im not wrong.
the whole combination of food we had (Jap and Chinese)
the Chefs named it : The Rape of Nan King
haha. dun ask me what it means.
ask them! (:

and awesome awesome meal! (:
super happy!

thanks guys!
our turn next week!

just curious, is the tuna fresh enough to be eaten like that? i mean what about the bacteria and all? as much as you sear the outside…but what about the inside?
and the garlic fried rice reminds me of kimchi rice! looks yum! what makes it look so orangey-red???
