yums seafood night!

31 Jul

we wanted to splurge
so we went to Victoria Market and get SALMON! (:
we bought half a whole salmon and asked them to fillet it out for us.
it was SO AWESOME!
cos we haven’t had good fish in ages!
so we decided to have a seafood night!
to add on to the dish.
we decided to make prawn bisque with all the prawn heads and shells we have been keeping.
and it was a perfect combination.
we were oh-so-happy-and-full that night

baby had uni that day.
so I was the cook of the night.
and cooking for me was therapeutic so I didn’t mind it one bit

the prawn bisque was easy to make
just a bit time consuming
but the time was all worth it
cos it was SUPER yummy! (:

so happy with how it turned out.

the paprika powder added a hint of spice to the soup
which was super good on a cold winter night!

with the salmon.
i pan-fried it and served it with a side of salad and home-made hollandaise sauce!
baby made the hollandaise sauce and it was so yums
we couldn’t stop adding it onto our plate. haha

the skin was super crispy
and of course being us.
we left that to the very last to be devoured! haha

and the inside of the fish was still pink!
so it was cooked to perfection. haha
*pat on my back*
i was really happy with how it turned out!

was a superb seafood night indeed! (:

Recipes will be up soon on separate posts!

suddenly. cupcakes are really popular!
so i guess my hopes and dreams of opening one
may not be such a good idea now. haha
but yes.
there is a new one in town!
and not only did they open one.
they opened two!
one at Melbourne central and the other on Collins Street.
was a bit held back at trying.
cos i’m a loyal supporter of Little Cupcakes haha.
but yes. I decided to give it ashot anyways!

(the Melbourne Central shop)

what really catches your eye when u walk pass the shop.
are the pretty cupcakes they display on their glass window. (:
in both shops.
it’s the same! and it’s super duper pretty!
you just can’t take your eyes of them!

(The Collins Street shop)

I went in the shop and felt really comfortable
sofa seats and bar top seats.
so you can always enjoy a cuppa with the cupcake.
but cause I just had a really full lunch with Baby.
I decided to just have the cupcake

and of course.
i picked my favourite flavour!

red velvet! (:

as pretty as it looks.
i have to say that the cupcakes are not that good.
the icing is a bit too powdery.
not as smooth as the ones at little cupcakes.
and the cupcake itself is a little dry.
and to be very honest.
I prefer having the small ones.
so i don’t feel too guilty. haha.
but yeah. it’s my bias opinion. (:
so go try it yourself! and let me know what you think!

the next one i want to try is the one at Prahan Market! (:

sincere apologies.

31 Jul
sorry for the lack of posts
my lappy has been down
and hopefully i will get it back by today.
cos I got heaps to post about! (:

so stay tuneddddd!
will be back as soon as they return the lappy to mee!

wedding entrance

28 Jul

will definitely be a wedding to remember (:
baby is seriously considering doing something like this. haha.
i think it’s going to be HILARIOUS!

crazy about puffs!

22 Jul

well a few weeks back I’ve tried baking durian puffs back home.
now that I’m back.
and it’s just the start of uni.
I’ve got a bit of time to do some baking!
and I’m still in this cream puff stage. haha
so i decided to make some cream puffs filled with home-made vanilla custard! (:
and they were super yum! hehe
baby enjoyed them alot. hehe
and they were super shiok when it’s chilled.

made one batch of choux pastry and initially one batch of custard.
but the choux pastry was taken from one recipe
and the custard another.
so I didn’t quite know how many puffs I would get
and how much the custard would be able to fill.
so I ended up making another 2 batches of custard. haha
yes. custard crazy!
but worth the hard work.
really enjoy making them. (:
though I think the puffs I made back home were a bit better. hehe
this one didn’t lose out much!

ps: if you have the ingredients from the baking mum website for the choux pastry
give that one a try.
the pastry is a little better in texture.
I didn’t have the different flours so I used the recipe from masterchef instead.

YUMI-NESS! (:

recipe and pictures!

dream – Priscilla Ahn

20 Jul

this song makes me want to cry and smile at the same time.

I was a little girl alone in my little world who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees, and fed my houseguests bark and leaves, and laughed in my pretty bed of green.

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.

Long walks in the dark through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I’m supposed to be.
The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep.

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree.
I had a dream.

Now I’m old and feeling grey. I don’t know what’s left to say about this life I’m willing to leave.
I lived it full and I lived it well, there’s many tales I’ve lived to tell. I’m ready now, I’m ready now, I’m ready now to fly from the highest wing.

I had a dream

we splurge and we indulge.

20 Jul
coming back to Melbourne.
Zhenghan was still at our place.
so we decided to cook for him. hehe
for the first time I think (:
and i must say
I am super happy with how it turned out! (:

we decided to splurge and got salmon
to try Gordan Ramsay’s dish that he demonstrated during the Food and Wine Show! hehe

suppose to use smoked salmon fillets.
but we just used the normal one.
and it turned out yummy as well! hehe

it was easy to cook
and quick as well! (: everyone should give it a try!
hoped Zhenghan enjoyed it. hehe
we sure did haha
