breakfast : the most important meal of the day

3 Apr
Baby and I noticed that we are breakfast people.
and during the weekend
the thing we are really willing to spend on is BREAKFAST! hehe
a good one. if possible.
we try and go around and look for breakfast places.
be it in Melbourne or in Singapore.
we are in search for the best breakfast places! (:

well there are many things to consider when rating a breakfast place.

1) How long did we wait to get seated
2) How long did we wait to get our food
3) What was the quality of the food
4) The quantity
5) Our thoughts about it – If we enjoyed it or not

so the past weekend.
it has been breakfast weekend.
starting from Friday!

The Five66 cafe is just infront of our apartment
and we thought we give it a try
cause there seems to have alot of people everyday

the top of my list every time i go for breakfast is eggs benedict.
and i have quite high expectations of this dish.
the eggs have to be poached well
and the hollandaise sauce has to be nice, creamy and buttery.

okay. when it came. i was pretty hungry
we waited for i think 20 mins for the food to come.
and that was a pretty long time.
the eggs were cooked to my liking
but the hollandaise sauce was quite a disappointment.
all I could taste was butter.
No egg-y taste. not much of an emulsion of the lemon juice either.
was a thin, butter sauce. with a tinge of lemon.
was quite sad. but well.
as a whole. it was still not too bad.

Baby had an omelette with chorizo, leeks and tomato puree
can’t really remember what was in it.
but it was much better compared to my eggs ben.

Overall. this place was alright.
didn’t make us very very happy.
but happy enough.

my rating : 3/5
baby’s ratings : 2/5

the next day
we went to Notturno for breakfast.
the only reason why we wanted to go there.
was because we had this SUPER HUGE mug of latte before.
but it was a bit costly.
so we jus had the normal size ones. hehe

well. this one was a real disappointment.

yes. once again.
i ordered my eggs ben.
this time. the hollandaise sauce was great.
so much better than Five66.
but thats the only plus.
cos their poached egg was using those machine thingies.
so it didn’t look or taste like a poached egg.
and the bread it was on was not even an english muffin.
and was on hard buttered toast.
rah. haha

baby’s big breakfast.
was not even of a okay standard.
the garlic mushrooms had no taste
the "sausage" was wayyy overdone and burnt.
the eggs once again was the poached ones.
and was overdone for him

so we left with unsatisfied tummies.

my rating : 2/5
baby’s rating 1/5

don’t think we will be going back there again anytime in the near future.
maybe just for the latte.

but it is always fun trying to find a good place for breakie! hehe
the next place. MART130! (:

oh i’m such a breakfast person too but i’m just too lazy to go out on a saturday morning for breakfast cos i’d rather sleep in or go to the gym. and by the time i’m done with gym, it’s lunch time so i’d be having brunch instead.
if you want good eggs benedict, go to the european. it’s on spring street. a bit pricey but OH-SO-GOOD. trust me, the hollandise sauce is goooood. and the service is pretty good too.
i havent had the chance to try mart 130 but let me know how it is! might want to go there when my mommy comes down to visit.
