Kelong Day 1 : Food Food Food

13 Sep
Last weekend, I went for a Kelong trip organised by NUSS
I must say it’s a very good experience
Waking up at 5am and leaving Singapore on the bus for Cebu at 7am!

Be warned! ALOT OF PHOTOS! haha ( : Enjoy!

So we arrived at the jetty and take the boat to the Kelong itself
Bright and early. haha

Queuing up to board the boat, all 104 of us!

just one of my favourite shots of the trip ( :

Presenting, the place we will be leaving in for the night!
trust me. I was quite hesitant at first. especially looking at our sleeping area! haha

and I am sure u can understand why. BUNKBEDS! haha
But really. It’s not that bad. really quite fun ( :

People started fishing almost immediately!

Check out the toilet! haha Straight into the sea.

then in a short while.. Lunch is served!

Steam fish, very very fresh! haha
(don’t worry, the fish was bought from the market, not fished out from the sea!)

herbal chicken!

and their tea or coffee is searved in this container! haha so old school right?

alot of things to eat for the first meal at the Kelong ( :
but what they did to the left over scraps was something I’m not very fond of.

yes. it’s exactly what it looks like.

oh wells. moving on!
we went island hopping!
actually. just one island. haha

the boats that took us to the other island

this man had alot of business! haha
cos it was a super hot day
coconut seems like the best idea!

beautiful view opposite the beach we were at

that’s our guide for this trip. he popped beside my mummy out of the blue

the ladies

the men

caught off guard! ( :

nice aye? love the beach! you would know *grins*

the flying fox!
which looked too unstable to use. haha

i secretly took this shot. haha

when we reached back to the Kelong
it was dinner time! ( :

veg

crab! hairy crab if I’m not wrong. hehe

satay squid. pretty good!

sweet and sour fish

if that wasn’t enough
we had supper that night. haha
BBQ supper.

I didn’t have any but most of the people did!
there was a whole spread of food!

HUGE pot of red bean soup! haha
anf alot of char kueh teow and fried noodles!

unlimited supply of chicken wings, sausages and marhmallows!

crab and sotong! alot yea? haha

and we had a HUGE cake for the September babies! ( :
so nice of the NUSS organisers

then there was a big commotion
and I went out and saw a HUGE fish! haha

the story behind this fish was that this guy caught it
but his line snapped!
but unfortunately for this fish
its injury was so bad
it died and floated on the waters
so the people tried to fish it out using a big net!
leaving it there without telling the guy who caught it. It’s too late to freeze it!
what a waste!

anyways. it’s been a long long day

and we were ready for bed time!
